United Martial Arts Encinitas

Martial Arts is not to teach how to prevent a fight (moral), or how to learn the techniques of stopping a fight (self-defense).. It is a rather to learn the truth, to express the truth so learned, and through such enlightenment, not to be involved in an unnecessary fight.

Ho Shin Moo Do is impartiality and independence, neither abundance no absence. It is to follow heaven's truth, and thereby to have a basic direction to follow in the world. Martial Arts is the Heavens (positive), Ho Shin Moo Do is the earth (negative).

Martial Arts is the father, and Ho Shin Moo Do is the mother. Heaven and earth create and control the universe; father and mother create and control the family. Heaven (father) covers everything without prejudice; earth (mother) receives everything without discarding anything. This path of life is the basis of harmony and truth, which brings about the harmony of Martial Arts and Ho Shin Moo Do. This is why we call it Ho Shin Moo Do.

Ho Shin Moo Do is a Martial Art' its training is founded on the principles of a philosophy of the center, a center found in the middle of a circle within which all things revolve. the three basic technical principles of Ho Shin Moo Do are: the principle of the way, the circle, and harmony; that is, to be as soft as the flow of a stream, to be as round as a pearl, and to be one with your opponent. Ho Shin Moo Do was created and founded by Grand Master Jin H. Kim as the culmination of his many years of experience, teaching and training in the mountains of Korea in isolation for 3 years.

Through Ho Shin Moo Do training, the student learns to use his body as an effective weapon similar to that of a hammer, sword, and a spear. Further more, Ho Shin Moo Do training enhances the mind so that the body and its weapons are no misused through acts of aggression or through actions having no reason or purpose. The practice of Ho Shin Moo Do allows the student to unite sound mental attitudes and a strong physique to conquer individual weakness so that they may achieve a higher state of self.

Everything must have order and must be conducted with that order. If everything is conducted with order this will enable (Ho Shin Moo Do) to be achieved.

  • Learning without thinking will not lead to enlightenment.
  • Thinking without effort will not lead to improvement.
  • Effort without will will not lead to righteousness.
  • Will without discipline will not lead to strength.
  • Discipline without goals will not lead to achievement.
